As many of you know, entrepreneurship has been the heart of my journey throughout my adult life. From starting my first venture as a mortgage broker, to ten incredible years as the owner of a thriving travel agency, and now spending the last 17 years slowly growing Sheer Ambrosia Bakery while raising my children as a single mom, this path has been a labor of love. It hasn’t always been easy—I’ve taken on second jobs to make ends meet—but every moment has been worth it.
Now that my kids have grown and started their own journeys, I’ve been able to pour even more energy into Sheer Ambrosia. Since 2023, I’ve made significant strides: I built out a new commercial kitchen, graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, hired my first non-seasonal employee, and earned certifications as a woman- and minority-owned business, as well as the ACDBE certification, paving the way for my baklava to be sold in airports. In 2024, I was honored to receive the Inaugural Business of the Year award from the Utah Black Chamber of Commerce. Sheer Ambrosia has been featured on multiple daytime TV shows, made its debut on the cover of Utah Business magazine, and has been spotlighted on NPR’s Marketplace 11 times! These milestones are just the beginning—I’m determined to keep climbing until we reach the very top.
Recently, I applied for the Entrepreneur of Impact contest on social media, and I need your help. The prize is incredible: $25,000 in cash, which would be a game-changer for my business, a feature in Forbes magazine, and a one-on-one mentoring session with Daymond John from Shark Tank.
